What is a unique reference number and why do I need one?
We attribute a unique reference number (URN) to every supporter of Young Lives vs Cancer. It is what identifies individuals on our database. When sending cheques or sponsorship forms into Young Lives vs Cancer, it is very helpful if you include your URN so that we can easily attribute that money to your record on our database.
How can I find my unique reference number (URN)?
Your URN is commonly included in the footer of regular communications you receive from us. If you cannot locate it, email fundraisingevents@younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
I’ve already registered with Young Lives vs Cancer and now I’m being asked to complete a second stage. Why?
If you have bought a place in an event through Young Lives vs Cancer (as opposed to directly through the event organisers), you will be asked to complete a second stage of registration with the event organisers. The event organisers require details such as your expected finish time, emergency contact details and other information which allows them to send out your timing chip and running number.
What happens if I don’t complete official registration?
If you do not complete this second stage of registration by the deadline provided, you will not be able to take part in the event. There are no exceptions to this rule and you cannot complete registration once the deadline has passed.
What is the deadline for official registration?
Official registration deadlines vary for each event. If you are unsure what the deadline is for your event, email fundraisingevents@younglivesvscancer.org.uk. It is always a good idea to complete official registration as soon as you are able to do so.
Why do you set fundraising targets?
Young Lives vs Cancer does not receive free places in sporting events, we have to pay the organisers for every place. We also have to pay for marketing and administration. We set fundraising targets to ensure those costs are covered whilst a meaningful amount goes directly to the important services we provide for children and young people with cancer. It is important to remember that if you purchase a place in an event through Young Lives vs Cancer and raise nothing, the charity will lose money.
What is my fundraising target?
Young Lives vs Cancer fundraising targets are listed on event web pages. You can search for your event on our website. Alternatively, you can email fundraisingevents@younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
When is my fundraising due into Young Lives vs Cancer?
Running events: We ask that you submit all of your fundraising prior to 4 weeks after your event. Of course sometimes donations are made after the deadline which is not a problem, just let us know.
Treks, Cycles & Skydives: Deadlines vary between events. They are listed on event web pages. You can search for your event on our website. Alternatively, you can email fundraisingevents@younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
What happens if I don’t hit the fundraising target?
Running events: You will still be able to run the event but the charity will be deprived of valuable funds.
Treks, Cycles & Skydives: If you do not meet the deadline set, you will not be able to take part in the event. This is because Young Lives vs Cancer is paying for the cost of your place, which we cannot do if you have not raised enough to cover that cost.
Why isn’t gift aid included in my total?
When will I get my vest letters?
We will post these to you roughly two weeks before your event.
When will I receive my race pack and running number?
Typically the organisers will send your race pack two weeks before your event.
How do I find out my event start time?
This varies between event. If you are unable to locate your time on email or via your event portal, you can email fundraisingevent@younglivesvscancer.org.uk and we will enquire on your behalf.
Will Young Lives vs Cancer be there on the day?
We love attending events and giving you a big cheer. Sadly we can’t attend every event. If you’d like to know if we’ll be setting up a cheer point at your event, email fundraisingevent@younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
How do I pay in my fundraising?
You can pay online, at the bank or via cheque.
Check out our handy guide to paying in your fundraising here.
How do I cancel my place?
If you can no longer take part in your event, please email fundraisingevents@younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
Can I get a refund on my registration fee?
Please refer to the Terms & Conditions you signed when registering for your event.
What happens if my event is cancelled/postponed?
Typically Young Lives vs Cancer will have to wait for instruction from the event organiser before deciding how to proceed. We will contact you via email to confirm your options at the earliest opportunity.
