World Cancer Day is a little different this year – CLIC Sargent drives virtual collection and spreads positivity
CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading charity for children and young people, would usually be shaking buckets up and down the country for #WorldCancerDay to raise much-needed funds for the young people and families they support.
This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the charity is instead encouraging supporters to donate to a virtual collection on 4 February. Support the charity’s virtual World Cancer Day collection here.
As part of CLIC Sargent’s World Cancer Day campaign, young people with cancer have also been encouraged to share their experiences through the lens of four key words: hope, unity, friends and strength. These words were chosen by two young people supported by CLIC Sargent, Sam and Enna.
Over the past few weeks, young people supported by CLIC Sargent took over the charity’s social media channels and filled people’s timelines with positivity and hope by sharing what got them through tough times.
To support this campaign, you can purchase a World Cancer Day keyring, available in three different designs – Unity / Friendship, Strength and Hope – from CLIC Sargent’s online shop.
The charity is also spreading positivity with the launch of a virtual ‘wall of support’. Supporters have been encouraged to add a positive message to the page, thanking special people in their lives who have helped them during difficult moments – view the messages of support here.
Additionally, the charity launched its first-ever digital art show in celebration of the talents of the incredible young people it supports. Young people supported by the charity were invited to submit art (from painting to tik-tok dance routines!) inspired by the words hope, unity, friends and strength for an online exhibition.
