Bletchingley Golf Club chose Young Lives vs Cancer as their charity of the year

We love hearing the ideas clubs have to support young cancer patients and families. Once Bletchingley Golf Club in Surrey had chosen us as its charity of the year, it offered players a £20 annual pass that meant they could avoid a penalty if they ended up in a bunker. Now that’s what you call win-win.

It was Nick, the club captain, who suggested fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer. He started by meeting Hollie, our local fundraising manager. If you choose to support us through your club, we’ll put you in touch with your local fundraiser to make everything as easy as possible.

Together, they planned key dates throughout the year and Hollie provided all the fundraising materials Nick wanted. The club put on a quiz, live music night, raffle and dart-a-thon, and on the captain’s charity day we came and spoke about our work and the difference members were making.

In total, the club raised an amazing £24,000 during the year – and every penny went towards our work to make sure young people get the right support at the right time.
