Supershoes thanks Young Lives vs Cancer after gifting their 5000th pair

Our partner charity Supershoes has thanked Young Lives vs Cancer after delivering their 5000th pair of personalised shoes to eight-year-old Henry, who is going through cancer treatment. The special pair of Supershoes, which were decorated with Henry’s favourite characters from Frozen and Scooby-Doo by Super Artist Krystle, were presented to Henry by Sarah White, the charity’s CEO.

Supershoes is a volunteer-led charity, with over 300 artists creating mini masterpieces in their spare time to bring joy and empowerment to children facing cancer. Since joining forces in 2014, they receive up to 30 referrals a week from Young Lives vs Cancer. Sarah White, who thanked Young Lives vs Cancer for their years of support, is in no doubt about what the 5000 pair milestone means:

“This number also stands for the other 4,999 children and young people going through some gruelling, tough times in their treatment for cancer, including the angels who, heartbreakingly, didn’t make it.  It costs between £70 and £100 to create a pair of Supershoes. Without the continuing support of Young Lives vs Cancer and our generous sponsors, we would never have been able to get this far, and with so many referrals each week, our work is by no means over.  We’ll carry on bringing smiles as long as there are youngsters still fighting cancer.”
