Get a Young Lives vs Cancer Grant
It’s not right that families have to worry about money when a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer. So Young Lives vs Cancer gives various grants, right from the moment of diagnosis, to help children and young people aged 0-24, and their families, cope financially.
Our Registration Grant
Cancer costs from the moment of diagnosis, but there’s no financial support sitting there waiting for you. To help with the immediate costs of cancer, we give a grant of £100 following an initial or secondary cancer diagnosis. You can also apply for this grant if you have received a relapse diagnosis a year or more after your previous treatment ending. Most young people and families use it to cover sudden expenses like:
- Travel to and from hospital, and parking there
- Extra food costs
- Increasing household bills and essential items
- Increasing phone bills so you can keep in touch with family and friends
- Private tuition to reduce the impact on education
- Accommodation near the hospital
- Childcare for siblings
How to apply
If you are a young person aged 18-24 diagnosed with cancer, or a parent of a child aged 0-16 diagnosed with cancer, you can apply for this grant by filling out the application form below.
*Please note if you have been assigned a Young Lives vs Cancer Social worker, you may have already received the registration grant and won’t be eligible to apply again. If you are unsure you’ve received it, please check with your assigned Young Lives vs Cancer Social worker*
