Wetherspoons release limited-edition bucket hats to raise funds for children and young people with cancer
A limited run of 20,000 bucket hats is landing in Wetherspoon pubs across the UK this July. Retailing at £9 each, the hats are expected to raise £180,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer, the leading UK charity for children and young people with cancer and their families.
The Wetherspoon fan’s highly anticipated item of the summer is a limited-edition reversible bucket hat. The hat will include the famous Wetherspoon plate design by Churchill China on one side, and ‘I’d rather be at Spoons’ slogan on the other.
Produced in collaboration with J D Wetherspoon, they are set to be this summer’s must-have collectable for superfans, festival go-ers and holiday makers alike – with all profits going to Young Lives vs Cancer.
Young Lives vs Cancer is the leading UK charity for children and young people with cancer (0-25) and their families. From the moment of diagnosis, their specialist social workers provide day-to-day support for each child, young person and family, from information and guidance to financial support.
J D Wetherspoon and Young Lives vs Cancer have been in partnership since 2002 and have together, through the generosity of their staff and customers, raised more than £26 million to provide support for children and young people with cancer and their families.
Carol Anne McMahon, Senior Partnership Fundraiser at Young Lives vs Cancer, said: “We’re excited to announce the release of the ‘I’d rather be at Spoons’ bucket hats this summer. It’s been great to see the enthusiasm from Wetherspoon staff and customers for the new hats, which are set to raise an incredible amount. Young Lives vs Cancer relies on charitable donations like these to support children and young people facing cancer and their families across the UK.”
