World Cancer Day launch: Cancer charity releases limited-edition T-shirt designed by ambassador Jules Von Hep

This World Cancer Day (February 4 2022), a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Jules Von Hep, creator of self-tan brand The Isle of Paradise, will go on sale to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer. This is the second time Jules, who is an ambassador for the charity, has designed a T-shirt for Young Lives vs Cancer after last year’s limited-edition World Cancer Day version raised over £19,500 to help young people facing cancer.

World Cancer Day marks a year since Jules, who recently launched sustainable British fashion brand Yan Tan, became an official ambassador for Young Lives vs Cancer. Last year, the charity launched a T-shirt designed by Jules focused on looking for positivity in amongst the negative. This year, Jules wants to promote body positivity and continue the theme with a slogan tee featuring the words ‘Hope looks good on you’.

The limited edition t-shirt has been designed by ambassador Jules von Hep

T-shirts will be sold on the charity’s online shop and produced by Teemill.com, a sustainable company who only print as an order comes in, to minimise waste. It will be available in both adults and children’s sizes, so everyone can have the chance to wear Jules’ design.

Young Lives vs Cancer has launched the sustainably produced T-shirt as part of its World Cancer 2022 campaign, which encourages young people with cancer to celebrate their achievements as well as their peers, during and after treatment. In the lead up to World Cancer Day, the charity has passed their social media channels over to young people as they share their big and small wins. From stepping out on the stage to stepping out of bed, every win when facing cancer is a triumph and deserves to be celebrated.

Jules designed the limited-edition T-shirt to continue the celebrations of young people with cancer, by reminding everyone how powerful a little bit of hope can be.

Jules Von Hep said:This year’s t-shirt has been designed around the idea of hope. Hope is something we have all relied on in the last year, but even more so for young people on their cancer journey. It’s an honour to be able to design and sell these environmentally friendly T-shirts to help raise money for this incredible charity!

Jules has worked closely with the charity since 2019. In 2020, Jules and Isle of Paradise hosted an afternoon tea for six young women with cancer. The event was a chance for the young people to open up and share their experiences of various challenges from body image to friendship as well as the impact a cancer diagnosis has on young people’s mental health.

As ambassador, Jules continually supports the charity’s campaigns to help raise awareness of cancer in children and young people as well as the impact it has on young people such as the effects on their mental health, employment and education.

Jules said “Whenever I speak to young people on their cancer journey what amazes me is their mental strength, their openness about their emotions and their willingness to say yes to new experiences, I always learn something new whenever I have these encounters”

Rachel Kirby-Rider, Young Lives vs Cancer Chief Executive said: We are thrilled Jules has worked with us again to design this year’s limited-edition T-shirt for World Cancer Day. We believe the hopeful message it shares is just what we all need.

“This World Cancer Day young people with cancer are sharing their incredible achievements, both big and small, and almost all of those will have happened with help from a little bit of hope.”

The organic cotton T-shirts will be available in both adult and children’s sizes and will retail at £25 for adults and £20 for children, with all proceeds going to Young Lives vs Cancer. They will be available to purchase from our online shop from February 4 for two weeks.
