Young Lives vs Cancer responds to news of Jess’s rule

Young Lives vs Cancer, the leading UK charity for children and young people with cancer and their families, responds to today’s announcement of Jess’s rule.

Rachel Kirby-Rider, Chief Executive at Young Lives vs Cancer says: “Today’s announcement of the new NHS initiative Jess’s Rule is a great step forward in helping patients get a faster diagnosis, which we know is crucial to ensure people receive the treatment and support they need as soon as possible.

“We know that around 45% of children and young people with cancer (0-25) had to visit their GP three or more times about their cancer symptoms before being told to go to hospital. Thanks to the incredible campaigning of Jess’ family in her name, we hope this new initiative will help children and young people get the treatment and support they need sooner.”
