Our manifesto for children and young people with cancer in Scotland.
Every year, around 320 children and young people in Scotland hear the life-changing words: “You have cancer.” It turns their world upside down — affecting not just their health, but their finances, friendships, family life, and futures. And it doesn’t stop when treatment ends.
Despite this, their voices are often missing from decisions that shape cancer care.
That’s why we’ve created our Holyrood 2026 manifesto: Transforming Cancer Care and Support for Children and Young People – our call to prioritise the needs of children and young people with cancer in Scotland.
We’re calling on all political parties to commit to:
- A refreshed cancer strategy for children and young people from 2026
- Expanding the Young Patients Family Fund criteria to include all under 25s with a cancer diagnosis
- Improved access to disability benefits
- Improved experience of diagnosis
- Comprehensive support during and beyond treatment
The time is now to truly transform their experiences, outcomes and futures. Because children and young people with cancer deserve better.
