This page is for you if you are acting as executor for the Will of a family member, friend or client. They have done something wonderful by including a gift in their Will to help children as well as their families who have heard the devastating news you have cancer.
Being chosen to be an executor shows that the person who has passed away placed a great deal of trust in you. Acting as an executor can feel like an overwhelming task. If we can assist you, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
We will do all we can to support you with the information you need to make the process as smooth as possible.

Whilst our charity began as two pioneering organisations and our name evolved over time. Young Lives vs Cancer, remains steadfast in our founders original mission to provide vital support to children and young people and their families.
Regardless of our name or address, our charity number will always find us.

How to contact us about a legacy
Please get in touch with Legacy Administration. You can write to us at the address above or contact us via email – giftsinwills@younglivesvscancer.org.uk or phone on 0300 330 0803.
As part of our administration, we’ll ask you for the following information:
- the full name and title of the person whose estate your are administering and any other names they may have been known by
- their last address along with any previous addresses you may have for them (to ensure our records are accurate and to stop any future correspondence to them)
- the date of their death
- the lead executor’s name and contact details
- a copy of the Will – a Will becomes a public document once probate has been granted. A copy of the Will helps us to understand the last wishes of our kind beneficiary and ensures we can honour any special requests.
- the date of probate, if known at this stage
- any information about our beneficiary, we are always so grateful to find out more about the wonderful people who chose to include a gift in their Will for our work.
We will ask for additional information at a later stage if the gift we have been left is a share of the residuary estate. This will include a list of possessions and debts our beneficiary had which will form the value of their estate.

Paying a gift in a Will to Young Lives vs Cancer
When paying a legacy gift, please tell us who has left the gift. We want to be able to accurately record the gift and acknowledge it has been received with a receipt for your executor records.

This will ensure the gift is received as being from the person’s estate you are administering.

Our unique reference number will be on all correspondence. If you are unable to locate this please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will provide you with the number.
