Young Lives vs Cancer support grant
Cancer can affect every part of life, including your finances. Travel to hospital, time off work, higher household bills and other unexpected costs can quickly add up.
If you're finding it difficult to manage the financial impact of cancer, Young Lives vs Cancer is here to help. We know that every family faces different challenges, and one of the ways we may be able to help is through a support grant to help with some of the extra costs cancer can bring.
Who can receive a grant?
You may be able to get a grant if:
- you’re a young person aged 16–24 with cancer
- you’re the parent or carer of a child under16 with cancer
- you’ve been recently bereaved following the death of a child from cancer.
How does it work?
Your Young Lives vs Cancer Social Worker will take time to understand your situation, including any financial challenges you’re facing. They’ll work with you to identify the support that could make the biggest difference and, where appropriate, may apply for a support grant on your behalf.
What can the grant help with?
The grant can help with a range of costs linked to cancer and its impact on day-to-day life, including:
- travelling to treatment and hospital stays
- accommodation costs
- food and everyday living expenses
- household bills
- equipment or items that make day-to-day life easier
- other unexpected costs that arise during treatment, recovery or bereavement.
