Make your will
Need to make or update your Will? Want to provide for your loved ones while also supporting children and young people with cancer?

This October, solicitors across the country have generously agreed to donate their time and expertise to support us by helping supporters like you write or amend their Will.
During Make a Will Month, participating solicitors won’t charge you for their professional advice or for making a Will. Instead, they’ll ask you to make a donation to CLIC Sargent, or to include a gift in your Will to us. However, there is no obligation to do either.
Bookings will open on 1 October, and limited appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
All donations will help children and young people with cancer, and their families, cope with the devastating impact of a cancer diagnosis.

For many people, knowing their loved ones will be taken care of in the future provides peace of mind. Having an up-to-date Will also means your money goes where you want it to – the people and causes you care most about.
Did you know that 1 in 8 of the children and young people with cancer we support are funded through gifts in Wills?
Together with supporters like you, CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives.
We provide grants and free accommodation close to hospital to help with spiralling costs. Our care teams are on hand to help families with everything from getting benefits to treatment closer to home. And we lobby the government to make sure children and young people with cancer, and their families, get the support they’re entitled to. We’re here to make sure young cancer patients can focus on getting their lives back on track.
You’re not obliged to include a gift in your Will to CLIC Sargent by taking care in Make a Will Month. But even a small percentage of your estate will mean that in the future, children, young people and their families won’t have to take on cancer alone.
You will need to make your appointment directly with your chosen solicitor. When calling, please quote ‘CLIC Sargent, Make a Will Month.’
Bookings will open on 1 October 2019. Appointments are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
Making a donation to CLIC Sargent
Your solicitor may ask if you’d like to make a donation to CLIC Sargent during your first appointment. If you choose to make a donation, your solicitor will be able to provide you with a donation form for you to full in. You can make the donation by cheque (made payable to CLIC Sargent) or by providing debit/credit card details, which will be forwarded to us.
Including a gift in your Will to CLIC Sargent
Gifts in Wills, no matter what the size, are extremely important to our work – in fact, 1 in 8 of the children and young people with cancer who we support are funded through gifts in Wills.
There is absolutely no obligation to include a gift in your Will to CLIC Sargent by taking part in the Make a Will Month offer. And we know you’ll want to look after your family and friends first. But after your loved ones have been provided for, we hope you’ll find a place for CLIC Sargent in your Will.
If you do choose to include a gift to CLIC Sargent in your Will, your solicitor will need our registered address and charity numbers, which are as follows:
CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children, registered charity in England and Wales 1107328 and in Scotland (SC039857) of No. 1 Farriers Yard, Assembly London, 77-85 Fulham Palace Road, London W6 8JA.
You can also order our free information booklet which has everything you need to know, including the different types of gift you can leave, information on inheritance tax, and the amazing work your gift could help fund.
Our Make a Will Month offer only applies to the preparation of simple Wills, or updating an existing Will.
If during your appointment with the solicitor they find that the Will is more complicated, then the solicitor is entitled to ask you to pay a fee to reflect any additional work involved (the difference between the solicitor’s normal fee for a simple Will and the actual fee for all the work involved).
In these cases, the solicitor will make you aware of any additional costs before undertaking the work, so that you can decide whether to proceed with the Will being written.
