If a young person in your family, school or community has recently been diagnosed with cancer, it can be hard to know what to do. Bringing everyone together to do something positive can really help give everyone a boost.

Here are some fun ideas for different fundraising activities for families and children. We’re here to help.

Popular activities

Get active to raise money. Get sponsored to do something physical. Maybe a relay race or bike ride? Or football tournament or dance-athon? Work in teams or on your own.

Sell old toys and books to raise money. A yard sale, car boot or even a jumble sale is a great way of getting rid of unwanted items while raising money.

Use your creativity to raise money. What can you make to sell to raise money? Think bake sales, lemonade stalls, Christmas cards, badges, hats, pet portraits!

Kick start your fundraising

  • Create a JustGiving page so you have a place to raise money and share updates.
  • Set a fundraising target. Pages with targets always raise more.
  • Let people know how their donations will help children and young people with cancer and their families.
  • Share regular updates – use your social channels or via email or WhatsApp to tell your network what you are doing.
  • Update and thank everyone afterwards. 20% of donations typically come in after an event.
